In the simplest terms, the word “vocation” means a “call.” So, in general terms, your vocation is what God calls you to do with your life and how to follow Him. Everybody is called by God to know, love, and serve Him. The difference is in how we each choose to accomplish this.
Individual vocations will vary based on being single, married, a religious, or a priest. However, in most cases the term “vocation” is used when referring to a call to the consecrated, religious, or priestly life. As a person progresses through youth to young adulthood, God reveals a vocation; more as an invitation than an imposition.
All are encouraged to discern their vocation through contemplation and prayer; and consider the possibility of priesthood or religious life! Life as a priest, religious sister, or religious brother is a dynamic combination of creativity, challenge, and fulfillment. We invite all single people to consider a religious vocation as a viable option for the future.
If you would like to discuss the development of your vocation or the possibility of a religious vocation, please contact the parish office to make an appointment with our pastor. You may also find more information on the diocesan vocations website, linked below.
